The airport is set to apply for its aerodrome licence on February 28, with the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) expected to be approved by the DGCA by March 5 or 7.

The much-anticipated Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) is expected to be inaugurated on May 15.
This news follows an assessment by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), which took place on Tuesday.
Managed by NMIAL, a joint venture between AAHL and CIDCO, the airport is set to ease the congestion at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, which operates with a single runway.
According to Hindustan Times, a DGCA official told, “We reviewed the preparedness of NMIA. The authorities have informed us that they will apply for all necessary permits by March 5, and we will process them accordingly.”
The on-site inspection involved key figures, including Vipin Kumar, Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Prakash Nikam, Regional Director of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), and officials from Adani Airport Holdings (AAHL) and the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra (CIDCO).
Earlier, the airport had faced some setbacks. During a commercial flight test on December 29, an IndiGo A320 aircraft landing on runway 08/26, the DGCA flagged some issues with the airport’s readiness. However, following Tuesday’s inspection, it was confirmed that 90% of those concerns had been resolved.
The airport is set to apply for its aerodrome licence on February 28, with the Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) expected to be approved by the DGCA by March 5 or 7. The AIP, a vital document for flight operations, will likely be published before the end of April.
The new airport will significantly transform Mumbai’s aviation landscape. Initially, it is expected to handle 10-12 million passengers each year, including 9 million domestic and 3 million international travellers.
