On Central Railway (CR), a six-hour block is planned on Saturday night to raise girders for the new Carnac Bridge, affecting services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Dadar from 11 pm to 5 am.
A total of 127 trains on January 24-25 and 150 trains on January 25-26 will be cancelled.
If you’re planning to travel on Western Railway this weekend, be prepared for some significant disruptions.
From Friday night, January 24, until early Saturday, January 25, passengers are advised not to wait for local trains at six key stations—Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Matunga Road, Mahim, and Khar Road—due to a 9.5-hour mega block between Bandra and Mahim.
The block is necessary for replacing and strengthening the old British-era bridge over the Mithi River, as per Hindustan Times.
During this period, 127 train services on January 24-25 and 150 services on January 25-26 will be cancelled. WR officials have stated that all slow train services leaving Churchgate, Virar, Bhayandar, and Borivali after 11 pm on Friday will take the fast line between Mumbai Central and Santacruz, bypassing the six stations. The final train from Churchgate to Borivali will depart at 1 am.
“During the block, trains between Churchgate and Dadar will use the fast lines. The last slow train towards Virar will leave Churchgate at 11:58 pm, and some services will operate on the Harbour Line between Bandra and Goregaon,” said Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, WR.
On Saturday morning, trains from Virar, Nallasopara, Vasai Road, Bhayandar, and Borivali will terminate at Andheri. Normal services will start to resume with the first fast train to Churchgate at 5:47 am and the first slow train from Churchgate at 8:03 am. There will be similar disruptions on Saturday night, extending into Sunday morning.
Additionally, there will be a one-hour block on the WR for a road-over-bridge (ROB) girder launch between Vangaon and Dahanu, causing delays for long-distance trains. Passengers may experience delays of 20-60 minutes, and some trains will terminate at Vangaon.
