Gochujang Pasta Alfredo

A creamy alfredo sauce seasoned with spicy gochujang, a Korean chili pepper paste!

ingredients
  • 12 ounces pasta (such as linguine or fettuccine or penne, etc.) (gluten-free for gluten-free)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced and divided (lights and greens)
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/2 tablespoon gochugaru (Korean chili powder)
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup parmigiano reggiano (parmesan), grated
  • salt and pepper to taste
directions
  1. Start cooking the pasta as directed on the package.
  2. Melt the butter in a pan over medium heat, add the lights of the green onions, garlic, gochujang, and gochugaru. and cook until fragrant, about a minute.
  3. Add the cream, bring to a boil and simmer for 3 minutes.
  4. Add the parmesan and let it melt into the sauce, before seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add the pasta, toss, and enjoy garnished with the greens of the green onions.

Note: Gochujang comes in different levels of spicy heat, if yours is hot use less, if your is milder, use more.
Option: Add 1 tablespoon oyster sauce.
