A 20-year-old Tata Sierra takes on a trending EV stunt, and the internet can’t get enough.

Viral Video: This challenge is based on Newton’s First Law of Motion — the Law of Inertia.

Tata’s Harrier.ev has been grabbing headlines lately with its dramatic commercials, especially the viral “tablecloth pull” stunt.

The challenge, which showed the SUV speeding away while leaving a neatly set table untouched, inspired many to try it themselves.

One such attempt was by a Tata Sierra owner who wanted to see if his vintage SUV could recreate the magic.

The Tablecloth Challenge

The video, posted on Instagram by Moto Sapien, shows the vlogger setting up a table just like in the Harrier.ev ad. He carefully arranged glasses filled with drinks and plates topped with fruit. One end of the tablecloth was tied to a rope, which he then fixed to the Sierra’s rear.

The aim was to pull the cloth cleanly without disturbing the items on the table — just like Tata did with the Harrier.ev.

The Attempt and the Result

Despite the Sierra being over 20 years old and not as powerful as modern vehicles, it managed to pull off the stunt. Thanks to the long rope and a decent build-up of speed, the tablecloth slipped off the table without completely disrupting the setup. No drinks were spilled, and the fruits stayed in place — mostly.

However, the execution wasn’t flawless. Unlike the smooth Harrier.ev stunt, the plates and glasses wobbled quite a bit. Majorly, because of two main reasons: the Sierra couldn’t accelerate fast enough, and the stunt was performed in an open, windy area — which made things even trickier.

What’s the Science Behind It?

The tablecloth trick is all about physics — specifically, Newton’s First Law of Motion. Objects tend to stay in place unless a strong enough force moves them. If the cloth is pulled fast enough, the inertia of the items on the table keeps them where they are — giving the illusion of magic, but it’s pure science.
