Pune International Airport is set to undergo a major transformation. Having said that, all flight operations will move to the new integrated terminal building (NITB) from 2 am on March 5, 2025.

The new terminal, covering 52,000 square metres, will feature 10 aerobridges for smooth boarding and deboarding. It also includes 34 check-in counters, 25 self-check-in kiosks, and five baggage carousels, with two dedicated to international arrivals. These upgrades will allow the airport to serve up to 9 million passengers a year, meeting global aviation standards.

Currently, some flights still operate from the old terminal, but from March 5, all operations will shift to the NITB. After the transition, work will begin to demolish and redevelop the old terminal.

According to Hindustan Times, Murlidhar Mohol, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, expressed pride in the milestone: “The move to the new terminal is a significant step forward in improving Pune’s aviation infrastructure. This modern facility will offer passengers a world-class travel experience, reflecting our commitment to growth and excellence.”

Furthermore, Pune Airport director Santosh Dhoke highlighted the modern amenities passengers can expect, including spacious lounges, dining options, retail outlets, and comfortable seating areas.

The terminal will also showcase Maharashtra’s cultural heritage through its design, which incorporates traditional art and architecture. Built with energy-efficient technologies, the NITB has achieved a four-star GRIHA rating for green buildings.
